On 23 May this year, the Childers Show Society will celebrate a special milestone: the 109th annual show since its founding in 1903.
A one-day event proudly showcasing the region’s livestock, produce, and makers and creators, the Childers Show has long been a cornerstone of the community, bringing people together to celebrate life in regional Queensland. Meghan Whel, assistant accountant at Advisory Partner, has a long history with the Childers Show community, going back as far as her great-grandparents. As Treasurer of the Childers Show Society, Meghan plays a key role in supporting the event and ensuring its continued success for future generations.
“The Childers Show has always meant more to me than just an annual event.” Meghan says. “It connects my family’s past with the present. My family’s involvement goes back generations. My grandfather was a committee member in the 1950s and helped shape the Show into the important community event it is today. Before that, my great-grandparents and grandparents took part as exhibitors. Since the 1920s, their hard work and dedication showed in the ribbons and prizes they brought home, each one representing effort, resilience, and pride in our community.”
