Looking Ahead: Planning for What Matters to You

Every year, the Advisory Partner team takes time away from the day-to-day to step back and ask a simple question:

How can we do an even better job for you?

In July, leaders from across our Brisbane, Childers, Rockhampton, Beaudesert, Armidale and Canberra offices came together for three days of planning, learning and brainstorming about how we can better support you, your family and your business through the changes ahead.

Here’s a look at some of the conversations that will shape how we work with you in the months and years ahead.

Getting Ahead of the Biggest Tax Changes in a Generation

There are significant tax changes on the horizon, including proposed changes to how capital gains are taxed from mid-2027 and how family trusts are taxed from mid-2028.

If you have held land, shares or a business for many years, or you hold assets through a family trust, these changes could have a meaningful impact on you and your family.

Our technical specialists spent a full day working through the proposed changes in detail, focusing on what they could mean in practice and how we can help you plan ahead.

If you hold assets in a family trust, or you’ve owned land, shares or a business for a long time, now’s a good time to start the conversation with your adviser.

You don’t need to have all the answers – that’s what we’re here for. Starting the conversation early gives us more time to understand your circumstances, consider your options and help you make informed decisions.

Family Succession is a Journey

If you’re thinking about the future of your farm, business or family assets, succession is likely to be one of the biggest conversations you’ll have.

Whether you’re preparing to hand over responsibility to the next generation, or you’re the next generation preparing to take it on, these transitions rarely happen overnight. As Matt Meehan shared with the team:

“when talking about succession planning, I prefer the term farm transition. Succession can make it sound like we’re planning for a single event, while transition recognises that we’re planning for a period of change.”

This idea has shaped much of our discussion around how we can better support you through the process, because succession isn’t just about getting the numbers right. It’s about having the conversations, understanding what each person wants, working through the difficult decisions and giving everyone time to adjust.

If you’ve been putting off the succession conversation, you don’t have to have it all figured out before you start.

We’re here to help you begin the conversation, gently and at your own pace.

Smarter Tools. More Time for You.

We’re continuing to invest in technology that can take care of more of the routine work behind the scenes.

The reason is simple: we want to spend less time on administration and more time with you.

That might mean a faster turnaround on your accounts, more time for your adviser to think through your individual circumstances, or simply more opportunities to have the conversations that matter.

As Advisory Partner grows, our goal is to make sure the service you receive still feels personal.

Still Championing Regional Communities

Advisory Partner was built around the regional communities we serve, and that remains an important part of who we are.

From sponsoring local events to supporting the causes that matter to our communities, we’re proud to continue showing up in the towns where we live, work and raise our families.

We’re not just planning for next year, we’re planning for the next generation, and that means making sure we’re ready to help you navigate whatever comes next.

Let’s Talk

If the upcoming tax changes have you thinking, your family has started considering succession, or it’s simply been a while since you’ve reviewed your affairs, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch with us today.

With thanks for your continued trust,

The Advisory Partner Team
