Matt Meehan and Daniher’s Drive 2025
Daniher’s Drive has become one of Australia’s most vital fundraising events for Motor Neurone Disease (MND), driving both awareness and critical funding for research through FightMND.
For Matt Meehan, Director at Advisory Partner, the cause is deeply personal. “My father, Peter Meehan, was diagnosed with motor neurone disease at 64 and passed away just 18 months later. He was strong, loving, and full of life,” Matt says. “MND took him far too soon.”
The Blue Denim Disco for MND
In the lead-up to the 2025 Drive, Matt organised the Blue Denim Disco fundraiser at the Bolt Inn in Uralla. “The fundraising happens before the Drive,” Matt explains. “The event itself is a bit of a celebration.”
Drawing more than 100 locals together, the Blue Denim Disco was a success, with Matt taking to the decks to DJ the event under his alias, “DJ Matman.” Following the fundraiser, he then joined the Daniher’s Drive convoy, travelling through regional Victoria over four days with the goal of sharing stories and continuing to raise awareness of MND.
More than a day job
The way Matt approaches his work today has been shaped strongly by his upbringing. “Dad was a respected general practitioner in Melbourne, following in the footsteps of his own father. It was only after he passed that the true scale of his impact became known,” Matt says. “We were sent so many cards after he passed. You could really see Dad wasn’t just looking after people’s health – he genuinely cared about their overall wellbeing.”
That example has stayed with Matt. “While I didn’t become a doctor like my father and grandfather, I always come back to the lesson Dad taught me: just help people. Money matters, but at the end of the day it’s about relationships and helping people live good lives. That’s why I do what I do.”
At Advisory Partner, Matt works closely with farmers and regional business owners, helping them navigate challenges and plan for a prosperous future. Outside the office, he’s a familiar face in the New England community.
Whether it’s swimming at dawn with the High Country Open Water Swimmers (High COWS), DJing at weddings or UNE events, performing in Armidale’s Dancing With The Stars, lending a hand at Signor Vertelli, or simply showing up to meetings with a loaf of Goldfish Bowl sourdough, Matt is deeply embedded in the life of his community.
Part of our DNA
At Advisory Partner, our team is encouraged to contribute to the causes they’re passionate about, whether through fundraising, volunteering, or simply showing up for their neighbours. Matt’s dedication to Daniher’s Drive is a reflection of that culture: an approach that is grounded in personal experience, connected to community, and focused on making a practical, lasting difference.
